Reading corner –
Reading is one of the most important activity your child can participate in. I would even go as far to say that it is up there in the top three, next to regular activity and healthy eating, wouldn’t you? Since this is such an important aspect, why not create a reading corner that they can escape to to enjoy their books?
It’s easy to do. All you need is an unused corner of the house, a curtain rod, colorful curtain, a fun bean bag, books, and book shelves and your done! If your corner is a bit grungy, then consider a splash of paint in the child’s favorite color.
Ample lighting is also a necessity. You don’t want your child straining to read their books. They could get headaches and these will end their enjoyment of books real fast.
The photo shows a large picture window and a source of light. If you are able to mimic this same set up at your home, great! If not, then just purchase a floor or table lamp and set it in the area for your child to use.
Once you create this space, you will notice your child using it more and more everyday.
