Penny floor – Who said that pennies are good for anything anymore? We’ve found a great use for those little copper friends that seem to multiply in your purse. After you check out this project, you may be found asking people if they would like to donate their unwanted pennies to you.
So why will you be collecting a multitude of pennies? Why, to make a penny floor, of course!
Yes, you read that right. A penny floor. It is a painstakingly tedious process, but the final product will make this all worthwhile. The variations in the copper give this floor a spectacularly unique look. As you gaze across the floor in the photo above, you will notice this variation for yourself. Isn’t it beautiful?
You may want to invite your friends over for this project because it will take a while to lay down enough pennies to cover an entire area. You will have to use an adhesive to secure the pennies as you lay them down, plus securing them will ensure that they don’t move when you cover them with lacquer.
The lacquer layer is needed to help keep the pennies from wearing down, plus it will keep dirt from collecting in the crevices.
