Pastel and Rustic Kitchen – When designing a rustic kitchen, the first thought that comes to mind are cowboys and horses, but that isn’t necessarily the case. Rustic can also mean using worn, aged wood or antique appliances. This kitchen adds a twist by using pastels in a rustic kitchen.
Rustic can have many connotations to different people, but one that usually doesn’t come to mind are pastels. You think of browns and greys, colors that symbolize wear and tear or age, but bright blue and yellow? Usually not where your thoughts go, right?.
However, after seeing this rustic kitchen adorned with pastel colors, I was amazed. It still holds the rustic feel while the pastels add a spark of life and cheeriness.
Notice that the designer sanded down the items that were painted with pastel colors. This dulled the surface and created the wear and tear that we so often think of when creating a rustic look.
The exposed wood beams are a focal point that brings the whole room together while adding character.
Let’s not forget to mention the counter top accessories. They add to the space as well.
This was a great example of how a look can be updated and changed.
