marayam montague/ via elle decor
The Mediterranean is the first thought that pops into my mind when I look at this picture of a patio. Via Elle decor, this picture highlights the work of Marayam Mantague.
My eyes immediately go to, what appears to be, encaustic tiles on the floor. If you are not familiar with these types of tiles, please Google them. They are cement tiles that are commonly used in Cuba, Spain and some Mediterranean areas. They can come in brilliant colors and designs and are works of art that you can walk on.
The immense arched doorways are magnificent. When Marayam Mantague saw those, I’m sure she was ecstatic. To work with a room that has such majestic architecture must be a joy. There really isn’t much you have to do in this area since the grandeur of the doorways is enough, but I wanted to at least mention them because they are so stunning.
Keeping the furniture simple was a good move. It doesn’t distract from the natural beauty of the room and that’s where the focus should be.
Finally, the light fixtures. The shape and materials has that Mediterranean feel and complete the look of the room.
