Make your baseboard more dramatic…add small pieces of trim to the top of existing baseboard, add a few inches and add another piece of molding. Paint the wall and trim white. This also works for crown molding too!
You don’t realize how much character baseboards can add to a room until you start working with it. All it will take to realize this is to replace the baseboard in one room and then you will be convinced. After you come to this realization, you may not be able to stop updating the baseboards in the entire home.
This is a fun project that, once learned, is addictive. You may find yourself updating the baseboards and crown molding in every room.
If you already have baseboards that are similar to the bottom baseboards in the picture, then you are half-way finished. If not, then you should look at updating that part first.
Your next step is to add small pieces of trim to the top of existing baseboard. This will add a few inches to this area. Next, add another piece of molding above that. Paint the trim white and the area between the old and new trim should be painted to match the wall color.
