House of Turquoise – Refurbishing old furniture is not only fun, but allows you to update without spending a lot of money. Why not use what you already own, right?
Need to add color to a boring room? Then consider creating a house of turquoise! OK, maybe not an entire home of turquoise, but a touch.
Find pieces of furniture in your home that can be spiced up and begin planning. If you have a piece that is similar to the one in the picture, then you can use this as a template.
Your old piece of furniture may already have a coat of paint on it. If that is the case, get ready to do some sandpapering. Doing this by hand is the labor intensive, but will prevent you from over sanding any areas. If you decide to use an electric sander, just be aware of how much pressure you use and that you are not overworking one area more than another.
After sanding, wipe down the entire piece with a damp cloth. This will ensure that all the dust has been eliminated before painting.
Finally, time to paint. No explanation needed here. Just paint to your heart’s content and enjoy your “new” piece of furniture when you are finished.
