Gutter Drainage Path – When it rains, does water flow all over you yard creating a nasty mess or build up next to your homes foundation. If so, this can create problems with your homes foundation such as cracks and leaks. You can create a unique landscape focal point with a gutter drainage system such as the one on the photograph in this article.
Using big bricks such as the one’s in the photograph on each side of the gutter drainage system to create the banks of the drainage system. The width of the path is up to you. Once you have placed your big bricks and created a ‘path’ for the water to flow, then you need to purchase small colored rocks that will complement your landscaping colors.
The small rocks will allow the water to travel away from your homes foundation instead of the ground absorbing all of the rainwater in one location. The bottom of most gutter downspouts without a sort of drainage system creates a wash away area over time.
You can add potting plants along the side of your path (in small amounts.) The rainwater that is filtered through the rocks will water your greenery without overwatering it.
